Backend Developer

In this full-time role, you’ll develop software to perform streaming data analytics and sensor fusion from the edge to the cloud, design the underlying distributed processing and machine learning pipelines and activities, and build a large-sale modeling and simulation environment to predict occupancy, flow and patterns of life. You’ll work on a modern hybrid cloud architecture where responsiveness, elasticity and scalability are essential.

Your responsibilities will span the spectrum of development including research, design, implementation and support; and have the opportunity to grow and contribute to other areas of product development based on your interests and abilities.

About You

This is a great opportunity for strong software engineering candidates with functional programming experience and a practitioner’s familiarity with machine learning to work on applied problems in data science in an early-stage environment.

You should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least four years' experience in full-time production software development
  • Roles that demonstrate project, technical and team leadership
  • Fluency in at least two languages like Scala, Clojure, Haskell, Python, or Java
  • Experience with--and a solid understanding of--functional programming
  • Past experience with stream processing, data pipelines and distributed systems

It will be helpful to be familiar with architectural patterns like reactive systems, microservices and scaling patterns--and you’ll have the chance to learn what you might not know from those who do.

We are a Boston-based company and while we are all working remotely through the end of the year, access to Boston will be important as we return. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship for employment visa status.

Technical Project Manager

In this full-time role, you’ll manage the full project lifecycle of our software configuration & deployment on customer premises. As technical project manager, you’ll be responsible for the planning and execution of these deployments, working closely with large IT and security organizations. You’ll configure according to our customers’ unique technical and physical layouts, and you’ll tune the deployment to ensure satisfactory hand-off to our customer success team. Over time, you’ll improve processes themselves for continued optimization.

Your primary responsibility is to successfully onboard or expand our customers with our integrated solution. This means partnering with our engineering team for software and configuration, our customers’ IT and security teams for hardware access, and any partners that help us build the software and assets.

About You

You operate at the intersection of technical and interpersonal skills. You enjoy working with people and are excited when a customer experiences software built by your company. You can easily move between abstract thinking, executing on tasks, and hopping on the phone to drive projects forward.

This is a great opportunity for skilled technical project managers that want to have an outsized impact on how customers adopt a product in an early-stage environment.

You should have:

  • At least one year of experience leading cross-functional delivery programs
  • Ability to effectively influence both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience impacting high-level process while also chewing through tasks
  • Creative problem-solving powers that drive projects to completion in spite of any obstacles
  • Appetite for continuously iterating on process for consistent improvements
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience

The following will set you apart from other applicants: experience in venue or campus management spaces; project management experience working with small companies selling to enterprise companies.

Full-Stack Engineer

In this full-time role, you’ll develop internally-facing software to support product and business teams that will include internal software applications, open source adaptation and customization, prototyping of new features and customer requirements, and process automation.

Some example tools you may build are:

  • Automate the conversion of CAD files (like DWGs) into SVGs with layer subtraction, possibly using SDKs such as drawings from the OpenDesign Alliance and existing open source tools.
  • Implement bots for Slack that allow automation and control of our internal systems
  • Automate creating image boundaries that are interpreted by our AI
  • Create administrator dashboards to be used by backend, data science and partner teams
Your responsibilities will span the spectrum of development including research, design, implementation and support; and have the opportunity to grow and contribute to other areas of product development based on your interests and abilities.

About You

You are versatile, experienced in at least 2 languages like Python, Java and JavaScript. You are demonstrably a fast learner, you value getting something done vs getting something perfect, and you can drive projects to completion. You feel deep satisfaction taking something manual and automating it.

You have at least two years of relevant experience working in a production software development team writing code. You are experienced with developer tools from the backend to the frontend.

The following will set you apart from other applicants: experience with React drawing components; proven track record of internal tools that boost productivity and ease developer pain.
