Backend Engineer

In this full-time role, you’ll develop software to perform streaming data analytics and sensor fusion from the edge to the cloud, design the underlying distributed processing and machine learning pipelines and activities, and build a large-scale modeling and simulation environment to predict occupancy, flow and patterns of life. You’ll work on a modern hybrid cloud architecture where responsiveness, elasticity and scalability are essential.

Your responsibilities will span the spectrum of development including research, design, implementation and support; and have the opportunity to grow and contribute to other areas of product development based on your interests and abilities.

About You

This is a great opportunity for strong software engineering candidates with functional programming experience and a practitioner’s familiarity with machine learning to work on applied problems in data science in an early-stage environment.

You should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least four years' experience in full-time production software development
  • Roles that demonstrate project, technical and team leadership
  • Fluency in at least two languages like Scala, Clojure, Haskell, Python, or Java
  • Experience with--and a solid understanding of--functional programming
  • Past experience with stream processing, data pipelines and distributed systems

It will be helpful to be familiar with architectural patterns like reactive systems, microservices and scaling patterns--and you’ll have the chance to learn what you might not know from those who do.

We are a Boston-based company and while we are all working remotely through the end of the year, access to Boston will be important as we return. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship for employment visa status.

Technical Project Manager

In this full-time role, you’ll manage the full project lifecycle of our software configuration & deployment on customer premises. As technical project manager, you’ll be responsible for the planning and execution of these deployments, working closely with large IT and security organizations. You’ll configure according to our customers’ unique technical and physical layouts, and you’ll tune the deployment to ensure satisfactory hand-off to our customer success team. Over time, you’ll improve processes themselves for continued optimization.

Your primary responsibility is to successfully onboard or expand our customers with our integrated solution. This means partnering with our engineering team for software and configuration, our customers’ IT and security teams for hardware access, and any partners that help us build the software and assets.

About You

You operate at the intersection of technical and interpersonal skills. You enjoy working with people and are excited when a customer experiences software built by your company. You can easily move between abstract thinking, executing on tasks, and hopping on the phone to drive projects forward.

This is a great opportunity for skilled technical project managers that want to have an outsized impact on how customers adopt a product in an early-stage environment.

You should have:

  • At least one year of experience leading cross-functional delivery programs
  • Ability to effectively influence both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience impacting high-level process while also chewing through tasks
  • Creative problem-solving powers that drive projects to completion in spite of any obstacles
  • Appetite for continuously iterating on process for consistent improvements
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience

The following will set you apart from other applicants: experience in venue or campus management spaces; project management experience working with small companies selling to enterprise companies.

Implementation Specialist

In this full-time role, you’ll bring our software to life in customer environments through successful onboarding and configuration. You’ll be responsible for determining the parameters and setup needed to deploy our software using a variety of tools, scripts and services. You’ll configure systems and networks according to customer technical and physical requirements, and you’ll validate and tune the deployment to ensure a great customer experience.

To achieve this, you will configure maps of the space, the data that populates them, run scripts, and utilize command line tools. You will likewise confirm successful implementation, and review accuracy of a deployment, making post-deployment adjustments as-needed. Our deployments are customized to unique customer facilities, which means the process end-to-end will require creative thinking as challenges arise. You will work closely with a Technical Project Manager, as well as our Development and Data Science teams to make the process repeatable and predictable.

About You

You enjoy digging into a system to understand how it works. You have experience configuring customer solutions according to their specific needs, and you believe details can make or break a successful implementation. You are comfortable running SQL queries or using equivalent tools to look at the data that drives a system’s configuration. You can read a bash or python script and understand what it’s doing, and can make sense of errors when they occur. As comfortable as you are with technology, you have a good intuition when something doesn’t seem right (and when it does). You can think creatively when the technology is not enough.

You have a Bachelor's degree or related experience, and at least two years of relevant experience working with customers to configure or correct how they use software.

We are a Boston-based company and while we are all working remotely, the ability to get to our Boston office for meetings and collaboration a couple days a week will be important as we return. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US and not require sponsorship for employment visa status.
